Artisana Nut Butter Giveaway-Contest!

We recently received a large amount of nut/seed butters and coconut products from Premier Organics--thank you Premier Organics! We happened to get more than we ever imagined and have decided to have a fun contest! First, you must check out Premier Organics' great line of products: http://www.premierorganics.org

Contest details are below, but first details about the prize! The prize is a sampler of many Artisana Organic Raw Nut/Seed Butters that include: Coconut butter, Coconut Oil, Pecan Butter, Walnut Butter, Macadamia Butter, Almond Butter, Tahini (sesame seed paste), and Cacao Bliss. (little 2 Tbsp sized glass jars of nut butter, perfect for taste-testing or dipping with your favorite fruit/snacks).The coconut oil is a great butter replacement, with a slightly cooling coconut taste. Very rich and satisfying. The coconut butter is great as a frosting spread or in a meal using coconut milk. All of the nut butters are nutty and delicious in their own way--we found that we liked the pecan butter the best. Although we aren't fond of macadamias, the macadamia was surprisingly delicious and sweet. The tahini was one of the best tahinis we've tried-not bitter like some can be. And the Cacao Bliss was decandent and fudgy!

We also received a jar of Amazon Bliss, which isn't included in the sampler. It was good, but not as "wow" as we'd hoped it to be--slightly dry and tastes like coconut butter with just a hint of fruitiness and nuttiness from the goji, cacao, acai, and other ingredients. But still very nutritious and tropical tasting!

We will definitely purchase Artisana tahini, pecan butter, coconut oil, and cacao bliss when the time comes! Although we personally can't tolerate nuts very well, the nut butters are very high quality, raw, organic, and delicious. We're sure that you will love all of Artisana products once you try them!

Ok, now more about the contest!

If you comment about a great & unique way to enjoy Artisana Raw Nut/Seed Butters (a recipe would be even better), then you will automatically be entered to win.

Here are the details:
  • Post a comment at the end of this blog post with your ideas --details and/or recipes would be great. You can also post on your own blog about this contest (but it won't count as an extra entry).
  • We want creativity--branch out and use the nut butters in something unique and delicious! It's great for you to tell us what your favorite way to enjoy Artisana nut/seed butters is, but we also need to know a dish/meal/snack (with details) you've tried that was out-of-the-ordinary delicious in order to be entered!
  • It can be sweet or savory, hot or cold and everything else in between! Of course, it must be vegan.
  • Only one entry per blog/person.
  • Contest starts Friday Sept 4 and ends in two weeks, Saturday Sept 19. Each entry will be assigned a number and a random number will be generated. Whoever matches the number wins the sampler!

We want some inspiration in the kitchen and can't wait to read about what all your ideas are! Pass the word on, too!

Have fun,

love this idea for a giveaway!

I just made a pretty cool (unusual i think) chickpea pancake...check it out here: http://sweetkaroline.wordpress.com/2009/08/09/10-minute-superfood-pancake/

i could totally see myself changing up the ingredients a bit, adding some coconut butter and making a thai chickpea pancake!

One of my favorite ways to use nut butter is over baked sweet potatoes for breakfast. I often mix the nut butter with a little milk and sweetener, maybe a dash of cinnamon, to create a delicious sauce for the yams!

This is an excellent giveaway! I like the other ideas here, and your own blog posts.

Probably the one of the best ways I've used tahini is as a substitute for oil in brownies.

This was my vegan, raw favorite recipe (yet) for coconut oil: Pineapple Icebox Dessert (http://alteredplates.blogspot.com/2009/06/book-review-anis-raw-food-desserts.html). It was so luscious and tasty. It was a huge hit with a group of non-vegans who have asked me to bring it again to gatherings. You've got to try it!

what a fabulous giveaway! I've been eager to try artisana's other nut butters, so this would be a great opportunity to taste them all!

One of my favorite ways to use nut butter is in Gena's famous banana soft serve- I toss frozen banana slices in my food processor with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a giant scoop of my raw nut butter of choice. I process it until smooth and creamy, and wallah-- nutty banana cinnamon soft serve! I'm salivating just thinking about it!

Great idea! I am interested in trying this product, but as a poor grad student, I would never purchase it for myself! :) I would give dessert hummus a shot (inspired by http://site.desserthummus.com/). I have not tried it, but it sounds incredibly interesting. Possible flavors:
1) pecan butter + pumpkin + cinnamon
2) cacao butter + walnut butter
3) almond butter + cranberries (or lingonberry jam)
4) macadamia nut butter + cocoa powder + vanilla
**serve all of the above with cinnamon pita chips, fruit, etc.

I also love those cute jars that they come in! Great for sauces, etc. in lunches!

Mmm I adore nut butters! I don't have any specific recipes but I use them in vegan ice creams, you can simply stir together some nut butter, a little sweetener and some cocoa powder for an amazing healthy dessert alternative, add it to smoothies and even savoury dishes. Indian curries are transformed into creamy deliciousness with the addition of a little nut butter (usually cashew, but almond works as well).

Depending on the type of nut they can make creamy pasta sauces and ice blocks for the kids (banana nut icy pops anyone?)

My latest addiction has been pecan nut butter (I just need to get the food processor to get it to the right consistency). Yum!

A giveaway - such a cute idea! I am not too experienced in nut butters yet so don't have anything to submit, but am enjoying reading the ideas from others!

Nut butter are such a versatile ingredient-you can go sweet or savoury.

One of my most recent discoveries is how easy it is to create a raw caramel using nut butters.
I have created a caramel frosting tht can be used on raw cakes or to create caramel apples.
In my food processor add"
1/2 cup medjhool dates
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 TB nut butter (I usually use cashew butter)
1 TB agave
1-2 TB water to get the right consistency.

The flavour is surprisingly complex. It is a fantastic addition to anyone's nut butter repertoire!

I hope my entry isn't to late, and if so...perhaps these ideas will simply inspire other readers of your blog! Things I like to use nut butters for include the obvious things like nut sauces for pastas or soups, or for making homemade vegan variation of peanut butter cups and using as a butter sub in cookies. But my ultimate favorite way to use nut butters is to use it as a base for a "buttercream" frosting on cupcakes (like my Copper Top Pupcakes) or for a raw cake frosting (with a raw nut butter, of course) blended with fresh/frozen fruit - so simple and delicious...

All of these recipes can be found on mine and my sisters' blog: The Innocent Primate...

Bake a sweet potato and then use a spoon of pecan butter on top instead of butter. YUM!
